Python 991 Responder LC3 SST Security/Remote Start System Review
With 100 degree summers and freezing winters in Maryland, I was determined to get in a comfortable car. After researching many different units online and at big box stores I finally settled on this unit. It has everything I want and more in a remote starter. Not only does it provide remote start capabilities but it also provides security and key-less entry! The range is fantastic and I have started my car a couple hundred yards away!
I like the idea that it has 2 fobs, 1 basic and 1 with a LCD screen that provides alarm notifications, temperature readings, time, run time duration and much more. The LCD remote has an internal rechargeable battery which is great and the other a standard watch battery. The rechargeable battery seems to last about a month on a charge. Some reviewers have mentioned that the remotes do not take wear well. Too bad this is not exactly the case. Of course if you throw your keys around or they get wet it will break, its an LCD screen!
I cannot comment on installation as I had this installed at a local shop, the idea of car wiring scares me and seems very complex. I had this installed on a manual transmission vehicle so yes it is possible as others have said it is not.

The LCD remote came dead, or so I thought. It would not power on even after charging. Turns out the battery was so drained that it had to charge overnight for the indicator to even appear.

Okay, so this is my very first legit alarm system and im pretty pleased with the results. The price is great and it was shipped within a week or so. This is the best for having during the winter time, i use the remote start all the time. Especially when i wake up and im getting ready for work. Its pretty cool. The range is great as well.
Here are the ONLY issues that i wish were changed or better (nothing serious). First, the remote itself is slightly too big, i wish it were just a little thinner. Second, the price to install is steep. Although i paid 0 for a Best Buy tech to do it on the side (did a great job too)....a shop "HP Racing" has a standard rate of 0 for install PLUS 0 if you have a manual..which i have. So i told them to kiss my a$$. So definitely look around for friends who know how to do it for cheaper. Lastly, there is sometimes a slight delay when you press the button to lock and unlock your car. And it takes about 5-7 seconds sometimes for the car to start when you activate remote start. Other than this, best product out there and very dependable, hands down.
Overall, i would recommend this to everyone...regardless of some issues, those flaws dont outweigh the overall product. Plus, there are a lot of features.

Spent around 0 on amazon.com to get the first one (+ some extra for some of the "accessory" sensors sold by another company), then spent almost 0 at Trick Trucks to have it installed at the "authorized installer of Python products". First they didn't have the programmer with the lastest version to install the remote start part, then after many delays they got it and got it installed "correctly". Lasted maybe 2 weeks, started getting more and more false warnings (even had them set it to the lowest settings and errors kept coming up), and lastly the remote start stopped working altogether again.
Had to come back on here and buy a second Python 991, since the installer wouldn't return/replace since they didn't buy it themselves (and had to pay 0 for some of the "reinstall time" since I didn't buy the hardware from them). Finally got them to swap out the old and busted for the new (and paid to ship the old one back for a refund), and the new one works for now, still gives some nuisance errors, and the stupid blue LED still blinks, whether I'm driving or parked. Just hope no one thinks I'm a cop (in a Dodge Charger) with that bright blue LED always flashing at the top of the front window...
4-flash sequence, probably indicating some sort of error (doesn't show up in the instructions or book), but the installer (even on the phone with Python) couldn't get the blue LED to turn off. I'm seaching the web for an answer, no luck so far. All in all, almost 00 spent, just for remote start and an alarm, that will probably fail again in the next month. Couldn't install myself on the Charger, missing some unique cable and NO INSTRUCTIONS in the first box (second box had something resembling instructions but still would have needed that cable and the programmer chipset equipment that the installer had to set up the remote start and change it from manual (default, WTF?) to automatic).
Works good, when it works (had it for going on 12 weeks now), sadly really only wanted it for the remote start which has only worked 3 of those 12 weeks...
