GROM Audio iPod to Mazda Car Adapter / Digital Interface Review
I installed this product in my daughters 2002 Mazda Protege, and am very pleased with the product. It sounds great, and operates well. As far as installation... If the car stereo was easier to get out, I would have given it 5 stars for installation ease. But the Mazda stereo is tricky to get out. Once the stereo is out, it's a breeze. Plug the cable into the stereo and the Grom Audio box, and plug the included iPod cable into the Grom Audio box. Done... almost. I went the extra step and tie-wrapped the box under the dash to keep it from bouncing around. If you aren't comfortable figuring out how to get the stereo out, then you're better off taking this to a stereo shop to have it installed.

I installed and the only thing it did was disconnect my cd player, but in all fairness it might be the guy who installed it that didnt know what he was doing.

I bought this item when I used a nano in my Mazda Tribute. Works as described, but ended up having to pay a stereo shop to help me put it in (factory radio very difficult to remove). When I upgraded to an iPhone I found that this is plagued by the same problem as most accessories: it is 12v (i.e. old firewire standard). Whenever I plug in my iPhone I am alerted that it will not charge and this may damage my new 0 phone.
In hindsight, after the cost of the product and install help I could have spent a little more and gotten an aftermarket HD/iPhone receiver for my car.
